World’s Cheapest Laptops
Carapelli Ltd., an electronic company from Taiwan, has announced the cheapest laptop in the world. This laptop, Impulse NPX-9000 is the cheapest laptop in the world with the price of US$130.
The processor of this laptop is MIPS 400MHx, with memory as big as 128MB, and 1GB hardisk. Impulse NPX-9000 also provides dongle for wireless network. In addition, NPX-9000 also has SD card slot, VGA slot, 3 USB ports, MiniUSB, and 802.11g Wifi connection. Web browser facility and multimedia software are also installed. Carapelli has made around 100 units of Impulse NPX-9000, which planned to be sold via Alibaba.com
Except this NPX-9000, there are some other cheap laptops around, such as One Laptop Per Child XO, which tagged USD 188 and being sold limitedly last year. The technology of One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) XO has a very slow processor and limited graphic accelerator. OLPC’s price is even said to be dropped around USD 75 in 2010.
Last week, CherryPal, a new technology company, has introduced the trend of cheap price Desktop PC with a price of USD 249. This Cherrypal’s Desktop PC has 400MHz processor with memory of 256MB RAM and 4GB hardisk. Another one is Eee PC from Asustek Computer, which introduced last year and has been sold around 350,000 PCs. Eee PC worths around USD 300 and has 800MHz Intel Processor, and 512MB RAM.
