<p>The popular name for the &#8216;Atkins Nutritional Approach&#8217; is the &#8216;Atkins Diet&#8217;, which was the brainchild of Doctor Robert Atkins. Dr. Atkins had gained a lot of surplus weight while he was studying in medical school and after coming across a new diet in a medical journal, he made up his mind to improve on it and release it as his own.</p>
<p>Atkins, in his Atkins diet book, stated that he was sure that the prevalent theories about weight gain were terribly wrong. First, he dismissed the idea that saturated fats were bad for weight loss; instead he said it was it was the carbohydrates that led to the weight problems Americans have these days. Atkins declared that on the contrary, our obsession with avoiding fat actually aggravated the problem. He pointed out that the low-fat diet foods on the market were high in carbohydrates but were not helping the nation, which probably meant that people on a &#8216;normal&#8217; diet often ate foods that were worse for them than what they had been eating before.</p>
<p>The Atkins diet shifted the focus. Atkins said that by avoiding carbohydrates, people would burn stored body fats. And, of course, if you lose the fat, you lose the weight. He said it was not just a matter of eating less. Atkins held that your diet could actually help you burn calories and The Atkins Diet supposedly burned more calories than were consumed everyday. But the claims were contested.</p>
<p>Dr. Atkins also touted the positive influence that his diet could have on people with type 2 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is a disease you get early in life, but type 2 is often closely associated with diet and surplus body weight. So, it should follow that any diet that helps reduce weight, will help people with Type 2 diabetes. The Atkins diet is low in carbohydrates, which must be avoided with type 2 diabetes regardless of the caloric intake, so because of this aspect of the diet, Atkins claimed that those who suffer type 2 diabetes would no longer need medication such as insulin. In general, doctors disagree with Atkins on this point, although they do agree, however, that a lower carbohydrate intake helps control Type 2 diabetes, but there is no proof that carbohydrates cause diabetes.</p>
<p>What are the steps one has to take to follow the Atkins diet? It is followed in four phases - Induction; On-Going Weight loss, Pre-maintenance and Lifetime Maintenance. Here is an overview of the most important phase - The Induction Phase.</p>
<p>The Induction phase is the most difficult phase of the Atkins diet. Atkins is flexible about the time period &#8221; but recommends it lasts for two weeks. During this phase carbohydrates are severely curtailed &#8221; you can only consume up to 20 grams per day. The idea is to enter a fat burning metabolic phase called ketosis when the body, starved of glucose, will start converting stored fat into fatty acids needed to power the body. Weight loss during this phase can be large &#8221; some Atkins followers reported losses of 5-10 pounds a week or more.</p>
<p>The aims of the final three phases in the Atkins diet are to learn the ideal carbohydrate levels for the next two phases, which are continued weight loss and weight maintenance. Many millions of people are still losing the weight they want to on the Atkins Diet &#8221; but be aware of the risks of consuming in too much cholesterol and fat.</p>

However, studies show that more people become depressed during the Winter and Autumn seasons. And lastly, mood swings, where a person&#8217;s mood may shift from happy to sad to angry in a relatively short period of time. </p>
<p>However, the kind of depression that has been proven to be most common is anxiety depression, which is actually recognizable when someone is being overly anxious about given situations. Anxiety is a natural behaviour that actually will help a person cope more with certain stressful activities like a first date or a gruelling exam the following day. <p><b>Dangers mental illnesses:</b> Not everyone with a mental disorder is a danger to society. Generally, predators with mental disorders are plagued with sociopathic, psychopathic and anti-social disorders, oppositional defiance, conduct control disorders, schizophrenia, borderline personality disorders (BPD), and psychosis. While there are a few other mental disorders that pose threats to our society, this is a list of the most common potential dangers that lurk on the streets and on the Internet.</p>
<p><b>How to save a child with mental disorders from dangers :</b> Never treat your child as if he/she has a mental disorder. Treat your child as special, yet avoid treating the child as if he/she is mentally ill, since many mentally ill patients are extremely intelligent. Teach your child the same rules that other children have to live by and stick to the rules. Do not leave room for doubt when danger is present. Teach your child respect by showing respect yourself.</p>
<p>Children with dangerous mental illnesses will often want to watch pornography, violent images, content, et cetera. This makes it difficult as a parent to protect your child. However, it is important that you enforce the rules. Never put yourself in danger while enforcing these rules, since some children with dangerous problems may cause you harm. </p>
<p>If the child refuses to listen to you, bring in the police and make sure that they do their job to help you enforce the rules. As a mother who is raising two boys with dangerous mental illnesses, I can tell you it won&#8217;t be easy but it can be done.</p>
<p>Children with mental illnesses often have brilliant minds that can often get round any parental controls and will do so without you even knowing. Take more time than normal to monitor your child&#8217;s behaviour online. Teach your child that giving out personal information is dangerous and encourage them to request your permission when thinking about divulging name, phone number or other details online.</p>
<p>Allow your child to take some responsibility for himself and always encourage your child to join in family discussions that involve them. Furthermore, encourage the child to be safety conscious by telling them to report any misdemeanour committed against them.</p>
<p>One of the hardest things you&#8217;ll ever have to do while raising a child with mental health issues is encouraging him/her to stay away from violent images and pornography. It is next to impossible to keep them away from this rubbish. However, it can be done, if you set a good example for the child.</p>
<p>It is important that you leave the channels of communication open. Allow your child to express concerns, opinions, ideals, theories et cetera without demeaning the child. You will be astounded at the knowledge children with certain mental disorders have, if you will only listen.</p>

<p>More than likely, if you noticed anything at all, you put the idea off until a future date when you could devote more time to decorating your bathroom or kitchen. At that time though, the place probably didn&#8217;t look as bad as it does now, after all, the years add up and even though you&#8217;ve been keeping it spotlessly clean you can&#8217;t stop the slow progress of time.</p>
<p>The chances are that if you were to take a closer look now, you&#8217;ll find that the curtains are looking a bit shabby and ragged around the edges, as are the bathroom rugs. They should be resilient to such commonplace accidents as water, soap, oil grease, fat and all the other things that somehow seem to become stuck to carpets. </p>

Due of the exciting adventures that you and your child will read about and see on film, he/she will find it easier to remember the names and dates of the history lessons. After all, learning is best when it is done in a fun way.</p>
<p>These ways are advisable if the child is still young, however when your child is older, you must choose a home schooling program that is suited for his/her particular age group. The programs are pitched at the elementary, high school, and even college levels. You just have to search online for these various programs.
